Methodology designed for messy, real-world evidence
Learn how DataPEDIA collects evidence, separates capital flows, calculates non-compounded ROI, handles missing data, and preserves commercial independence.
Define the economic unit
We identify the account, wallet, simulated ledger, or position being measured before calculating a return.
Capture primary evidence
APIs and public blockchains are preferred. Statements, approved ledgers, and screenshots are used when primary automation is unavailable and are labeled accordingly.
Separate capital flows
Deposits and withdrawals are not profit or loss. They are reconciled separately wherever the source exposes them.
Calculate returns
Each strategy uses a documented primary basis appropriate to its activity: realized cash, balance growth, reward income, approved simulated cash, or cash-flow-adjusted total account equity.
Report without compounding
Period-series ROI adds supported returns; fixed account-basis ROI divides cash-flow-adjusted total P&L by external deposits. Neither assumes reinvestment.
Withhold unsupported precision
When cost basis, marks, capital flows, or evidence are missing, the affected metric remains unavailable.
Evidence hierarchy
Evidence is strongest when it is independently queryable and complete. Public blockchain data and dedicated account APIs generally rank above downloadable statements, approved transaction ledgers, screenshots, and owner-attested history. A lower evidence class is not automatically wrong; it simply receives a clearer limitation.
Return definitions are project specific
A mining project cannot be measured exactly like a perpetual-futures account or a lending vault. DataPEDIA keeps the common comparison column—source-aware ROI—but each project page states the denominator, data source, and exclusions. Current APY is never presented as realized ROI, and open unrealized profit is not silently mixed into realized cash.
Rankings and commercial independence
Projects with a publishable ROI are ordered from highest to lowest. Affiliate links, sponsorships, and official-resource relationships do not influence the result. Sponsored links are labeled, technically marked as sponsored, and separated from the research record.
Corrections and refreshes
New evidence may revise a historical period. Material changes should preserve an audit note in the project record. Automated collectors refresh on their own schedules; manual and approval-based records update when a new supported artifact is accepted.
